Hey guys, we're back with part two of lesson one. I hope everybody's here. If you can find us, let's go ahead and share that. Some of those people, I hope you'll find us again. All right, we were talking about the preservation of the word of God. God wrote it and talked about that. Here's the other thing that happened. People saw it happen. How can you know the word of God's true? People saw it happen. 2 Peter 1, verse 16, for we have not followed cunningly devised fables. Those are lies. Those are made up stories. We're not following that. When we made known unto you the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, he says we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. So they saw it. They saw this. In Acts chapter two, the day of Pentecost, verse 22, this is what Peter says. He says, you men of Israel, hear these words. Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and signs and wonders, which God did by him in your midst. You yourselves know it. So the word of God, it was seen. It was seen by people. All right, moving on with this. How can you know that the Bible is true? What if I told you that the Bible is true? I told you, science helps us. Let's talk about science. Many proofs within the Bible indicate that it is indeed a divine book. It's like the Bible knows things that it shouldn't have known before that moment. The Bible tells us about a round earth. The world didn't know about a round earth until someone went around the world. Magellan, I believe. Not until brave explorers explored the world and said, hey, we didn't fall off the side of the earth. Did the world not understand that the world was not flat? Sorry if you're a flat earther out there. The world's not flat. But the Bible knew this way back with Isaiah chapter 40, verse 22. Can we look at this scripture together? Isaiah chapter 40, verse 22. Facebook, Isaiah 40. Isaiah 40, verse 22. When you're ready, somebody read this out loud for us. Isaiah 40, verse 22. It is he who sits above the circle of the earth. It is he who sits above the circle of the earth. Now that's translated circle there. It's actually more correct actually to translate it circle. Sphere, because the circle's a two-dimensional object. The word there really gives an idea that it is a three-dimensional object, like a globe. How did Isaiah know that? It's divine. Long before we could go to outer space and take pictures of it, this was revealed to us by God. There's also this old ancient belief that the world sat on top of pillars, that there were these pillars that were holding it up. They believed that these ancient gods built these pillars and set a world on it. That was the scientific belief in the ancient world, that it sat on pillars. Can we go to Job chapter 26, verse 7? Job 26, verse 7. That Job, he went through so much problems, but he still loved the Lord. Job 26, verse 7. Does the Bible think that the world's going to be like this? The world sits on these pillars here? Let's read it. Somebody read it out loud. He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing. Wait. God hangs the world on nothing? He stretches out the north over the empty place? Way before he should have known that, the Holy Spirit told him, the world's not built on pillars here. It is hanging out above nothing. The ancient world could be, even contemplate that. But there it is in the word of God. How many stars are there in the universe? Well, science has always claimed, tried to claim an answer. Hippocarchus, the father of Greek astronomy, he counted 1,080 stars. He said, scientifically, there are 1,080 stars. That's the ancient world for you. Science always thinks they know what's going on, right? The count was still believed to be accurate 300 years later. But then Galileo's invention of the telescope in the 1600s, then they changed that figure. They believed then that countless million stars were scattered throughout the textbook. But even current textbooks cautiously state the number of stars. How many stars are over there? They know that there are over 100 billion and that's just not even scratching on it. There are billions upon billions of stars out there. Man could never accurately, accurately determine, we now believe, how many stars are out there. Congratulations, science. You just caught up with Jeremiah 33 and 22 that says the host of heaven, the stars, cannot be numbered. Neither the sand of the sea measured. The Bible was ahead of science. Science is always trying to catch up with the Bible. You know what atoms are? Atoms are these small, small building blocks that make up all matter. We still can't really see atoms. It's like, how do you see an atom? Like we get these atomic microscopes and we're like, I think I see an atom. I don't really even know how all that works. We don't see atoms. We've come to know that they are there. We've even come to harness the power of atoms. But the ancient world had no clue about this. But turn to Hebrews chapter 11, verse three. Turn to Hebrews chapter 11, verse three. Read this out loud. Hebrews chapter 11, verse three. Who wants to read that out loud? Go for it. By faith, Abel offered to God a morgue. Oh, that's not the right one. Verse three, 11 and three. By faith, we understand that the universe, was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are physical. All right. So by faith, we know that the world was made by the word of God, so that the things that we are seeing are made out of things we can't see. That's atoms right there. Right there in Hebrews chapter 11. Hebrews, in right smack dab in the middle of the ancient world, we would snub. We would snub our nose at them and say, they don't know anything that we don't know. We know stuff they don't know. That's what we'd say. But the writer of the word of God right there suggests to us that the world is created by building blocks that are invisible. Right there. That's amazing, isn't it? Let's move on to this. So that was science. Let's talk about medicine. Medical science has recently made tremendous advances, right? It's always making advances. That's really good. But did you know? As recently as the 18th century, physicians believed how you cured some patients was to get rid of their blood. They called it bleeding. Here's the problem. Their blood's bad. We need to get rid of their blood. We get rid of some of their blood, they're gonna live. That was science. That was medicine. That's what the best medical minds of their day. Let's get rid of some blood. If only those people would have looked at the word of God, because Leviticus 17 and 11 says, for the life of the flesh is in the blood. It's in the blood. Right there. Ancient world. Divine inspiration from the word of God right there. Medicine. Let's look at this. History. History recorded before the time of Christ also proves biblical truths. There are cities mentioned in the Bible. They all existed. Right? We found them. We know about them. They're written about in other historical books. We know about them. The Bible is the most reliable history of all ages. Every detail and account is historically accurate. Until recent years, one of the most notable arguments used by critics stated that the accounts of creation, sorry, yeah, the accounts of creation and the flood are only myths or legends. However, they must now consider evidence. They must now consider evidence. We've found evidence found elsewhere of these events, that the flood accounts in Genesis is not only written history, is not the only written history. Other historians have found other civilizations write about a flood, and they've found evidence of such a flood. All right, moving on. Related to history, archaeology. The more experts search and dig, the more they affirm the truth of the Bible. What is history? the truth of the Bible archaeologists and science developed in the last 200 years deal with the excavation and evaluation of items found from the ancient past some people have asked this question how do you even know there was an Abraham well he's written about in the Bible that's not good enough he's written about in Babylon remember Israel was there in Babylon they told Babylon about Abraham and Babylon wrote it down what about anything else about Abraham well we know he's from Ur and that was a real place we know he's going through a place called Canaan we know where exactly where that is it's Israel we know all these things the name Abraham written all throughout history archaeology we dig up things and we find things all the time that that reveal to us the truth of the Bible and we find things all the time that reveal to us the truth of the Bible and we find things all the time that reveal to us the truth that we could talk about things about like the Red Sea and how we found exactly where that is and how miraculous that was and how it can be proved by archaeology let's move on let's talk about something called the Dead Sea Scrolls can you say Dead Sea Scrolls you've heard that sin that phrase before Dead Sea Scrolls you know what it is there it is well it's something really excited so in the early 1900s the oldest written manuscripts of the Bible we had were approximately from the year 1008 AD so if you consider that's not that old when it comes to the written manuscript of the Old Testament right because the Old Testament is written before AD and so the the latest version of that was from 1008 which gave way to a lot of criticism like see it's an old book but they don't even have an old copy of it that old tired argument but something interesting happened in 1947 this is kind of a crazy story listen to this 1947 two shepherd boys they're out tending sheep they lose one of the sheep they go let's go find the sheep that we're missing so they go running and they go run over to a cave in Israel and they throw a rock into this cave thinking if the Sheep's in there maybe we'll hit the sheep with the rock or the you know it'll scare the sheep will hear it I don't want to go crawling in that sheep in that that cave they throw this rock and instead of hearing a bat they hear pottery crash they hear breaking they're like what what's that they go investigate this cave in 1947 and they find all this pottery in there that's really old not only it's really old but it's got old writing and they find all this old parchment all this old writing and it's of the Bible it's of the Old Testament now remember I told you the oldest copy that they had to this point was from 1008 right still on it though this one couple times... to this point was from 1008 right and they need a lot of research now at the end the first 10 days they found land Carson! now remember I told you the oldest copy that they had to this point was from 1008 right and they need a lot of research now at the end the first 10 days they found land Carson! right and they need a lot of research now at the end the first 10 days they found land Carson! they found copies of the Bible stored in these old pottery that was 1,900 years old. And so now they have brand new, older written word of God than they ever had. So here's what they did. They poured, they rescued all that writing and scholars looked over all that writing and they took all this new old writing, 1,900 years old, and they took the most recent, the oldest copies that they had from 1,008 and they compared them and they were identical. They had the entire book of Isaiah in there. It was identical. The people that like to say that somebody, somebody changed the word of God, surely that would have been provable when they showed up with the word and it had changed, but it had not changed. That's what the Dead Sea Scrolls is. The Dead Sea Scrolls were an unbelievable breakthrough that proved great validity when it came to the word of God, that it had been preserved. Isn't that an amazing story? All right, let's talk about this. How do we know the word of God is true? Prophecy. The prophets proved it. Let's get down to the real deal, Lucille. Prophecy is important. Your book, the Bible, contains some 6,000 specific prophecies. Thousands have already been fulfilled 100%. 100%. Prophecy is the litmus test. It is an absolutely infallibility test. During the life of Jesus Christ, 333 prophecies were fulfilled about him. No small task. Actually, the prophets foretold the destiny of practically every existing ancient nation. And in every case, they proved correct. Even now, countless prophetic utterances are being realized. The Bible has proven to be history written in advance. It's like reading tomorrow's newspaper. So, there's prophecy. And we see things that happen, and then. How about this? Zechariah vividly described the triumphal entry into Jerusalem by Jesus. That's Zechariah. Hundreds of years earlier. The psalmist David revealed Jesus' betrayal by a friend. Revealed the giving of gall and vinegar on the cross. The piercing of his hands. And the gambling for his garment. Even the exact price of betrayal was predicted. It predicted for 30 pieces of silver. What a lucky guess the Bible is. Or, it's true. At least 29 Old Testament prophecies relate to the betrayal, trial, death, suffering, and burial of our Lord. Although spoken at various times by different voices during the five centuries, every one of them was literally fulfilled in one 24-hour period of time. One 24-hour period. All those prophecies fulfilled. Isn't that amazing? It's like it's true. It is. It's true. I believe it with all my heart. Grab a hold of that. It happened then, but it's also happening now. We got prophecy that is still being fulfilled. Christ himself predicted that there would be worldwide, there were never worldwide wars until the last century. He listed famines, pestilence, and earthquakes. Do you know that we have more earthquakes happening every day right now than what would happen in years in the ancient world? It's amazing. He warned that the state of political unrest and upheaval would exist. He prophesied that. He told us about a beast that would ascend to world dominance. That could be just around the corner, right? All these predictions plus many others we're going to talk about in future lessons, but I want to give you one prophecy that is the most amazing. It's the most amazing to me. Are you ready? It's a prophecy concerning Israel. Number one, you want to know that the word of God is true? Israel itself is all you need. The fact that Israel, still exists. You want to prove the word of God wrong? Destroy Israel and let them never exist again. That's how you prove the word of God is wrong. That easy. And it's the most easy thing to do because nations rise and fall all the time. Let's talk about this. This is amazing. I want us to turn to Jeremiah 23 and 3. So we're looking at our Old Testament here. Jeremiah 23 and 3. You want to look up this verse. It is absolutely amazing. It's a prophecy about Israel. It's a prophecy that's downright impossible to happen. Who's got it for us? 3 and 3? 23 and 3. Jeremiah. Jeremiah was not a bullfrog. He was a major problem. Then I will gather the remnants of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and I will bring them back to their fold and I will bring them back to their fold and they shall be fruitful and multiply. All right. That's it. You nailed it. This is God speaking and it's a prophecy. He's saying, I'm going to drive them. I'm going to, another verse in Ezekiel 36 tells it like this, that he's going to scatter them. And once he's done that, there is a moment when he is going to bring them all back to his nation of Israel. Israel. I didn't hear kids screaming. Did you hear kids screaming? I don't hear kids screaming. You can? Yeah. I was watching on my way. So he's going to gather his flock. Who is his flock? Israel. Israel. We better take care of this. There's just a little hallelujah from the other room. There's just little tiny voices which you can't hear them. It's kind of funny. They just get louder every now and then. Until the point it sounds like this. Any questions about this verse that we just read? Because what it's saying is they're not going to be a nation. I'm going to scatter them among the world and then I'm going to bring them back and they're going to be. A nation again. Now I want you to name any nation that stopped being a nation and then became a nation again. You name that nation. Because I can only name one. Israel. You got Germany but it never stopped being Germany. If you destroy a nation by taking it away by taking away its currency that's one of the first things they do. Destroying their government. Taking away everything that is that nation. And then you take the extra step of you kick everybody out of the nation and then hundreds of years go by over a thousand years go by getting close to two thousand years go by. What chance does that nation have of ever coming back to life? According to prophecy they will be dead. Only way it could happen is if there is a God who makes it happen. And that is exactly what happens. I want to read another prophecy for you. Isaiah 31 and 5. As birds flying. Everybody said as birds flying. As birds flying. So will the Lord of hosts defend Israel. Defending also he will deliver it and passing over he will preserve it. All right. Right there a lot of people think that's prophesying of airplanes protecting Israel. I want to give you a story. 1917. Everyone said 1917. 1917. Turks controlled Jerusalem. There's no Jews in Jerusalem. There's no Jews in Israel. It's controlled by other nation. And Turks controlled Israel in 1917. And the British were confident of reigning of checking out. They were going to try to check out what was going on in Jerusalem. So they sent a spy plane to do a reconnaissance mission. And it flew over the area of Jerusalem. And the Turks saw this thing up there. They saw this plane. It might have been the first plane they'd ever seen. But they saw that and they knew that was bad news. They took it as an omen that they're destructing and that destruction was upon them. And they were all alarmed. And the following night they all left. Every one of them left. They see this plane. Remember prophecy said that as a bird flying I'll deliver Israel. I'll redeem them. I'll protect them. All the Turks leave. And Britain's like there's nobody in Jerusalem. So without shooting a bullet Britain comes and just takes control over Jerusalem. And then they give it back to the Jews. In 1917 the Balfour Declaration was signed by the British government giving Jews the right to return to Palestine and reestablish Israel as a nation. What did he say? He said and I will gather the remnant of my flock. They've been kicked out of Israel. They are no longer a nation. But in 1917 a flying bird of a plane goes over Jerusalem. Everybody runs. They take over it and they sign this declaration making Israel a nation again. Time goes on during the 20s and 30s. Hundreds of thousands of Jews migrated to Palestine. Finally in May 1948 the creation of Israel as an independent state was announced. It's recognized by America and other major nations. Later in 1967 the prophecy was dramatically repeated at the beginning of a six day war. Have you ever heard of the six day war? At the beginning of a six day war Arab guns positioned on adjacent hills began firing into the city. Everybody in the world stood by and said well this is not this is it. Israel is outmatched. There are several nations around here. There are several nations trying to attack Israel at one point. But guess what? Miracles happened and they won that six day war. If you read if you hear testimonies from people that were soldiers on both sides they'll tell you something was going on that was supernatural. All of this happens. God kicks out Israel. God draws back Israel. It's unfathomable that that is still a nation. The fact that there is an Israel means there is a God of Israel. You better believe it. So that's a great prophecy and I love that story. So things have happened. Things will soon happen. Question mark. Things could happen and we're we're looking in the word of God. That's why it's so important to look inside the word of God to know what is coming next. We're going to be looking at those things. Any questions about anything we've talked about? This ends my lesson. I've got some questions for you unless you've got questions for me. So when the Bible says that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess is that considered a prophecy? Yes. That's considered a prophecy. She asked when the Bible says every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess is that a prophecy? Yeah. That's a prophecy. It has not happened yet but they're going to We're waiting on it. We're already bowing our knees to Jesus but one day every knee shall bow. My question is this does Satan have knees? You bet he does. One day he's going to bow too. That's already been proven in the beginning when God called for all of his sons and he says where were you? And he says I was out searching to and fro but he still has to enter with God anyway. He does. Absolutely. That's already been said. Sorry. No problem. Any other questions? Of churches? Got any questions? Facebook? Do you have any questions for me? I've got questions for you. In which ways did God reveal his will to man before the written word? All of the above. What are they? There was oral communication creation and conscience. God used all of those things before we ever received written word. Question two. The Old Testament is written is divided into how many sections? Five. Five. Five. All right. Five of them. Can we name them? Poetry. Poetry? History. History. Law. Law. Minor prophets. Minor prophets and major prophets. They did it. Did you get it? God's first written word was given to who? On stone tablets. Did you say Merlin? Moses. Moses. All right. Although the Old Testament was written by 32 different writers there is perfect harmony and unity because there is just one author. All right. How many total books are included in our Old Testament? Thirty-nine. Thirty-nine. And you can count the letters in Old the letters in Testament to help you come up with three and nine. The blank was the first book to be printed on the printing press in 1488. The Bible. The Bible. The Bible. The Bible. The Bible. The Bible. Very good. All right. So we've got this question. It's kind of confusing. Number the steps in the correct order tracing the Bible's progression from God's hands to ours. Let's do that. So scribes copied the law for succeeding generations. Is that the first thing that happened? No. Right? What's the first thing that happened? The first written word was given to Moses. It's handed to God to Moses on stone tablets. All right. And then what else happened? The law was preserved in the ark. And then it was rehearsed every seven years. Yeah, it was rehearsed every seven years. And then we got the scribes. And then we've got them writing down the word of God. Then we have the first Bible being printed in 1488. Very good. Can you remember three fields of learning that help us prove the accuracy of God? Science. Of God's word. The Bible. Science is one of them. Medicine. Medicine. Archeology. Archeology. We've got history. We've also got prophecy. How about that one? All right. How many Bible prophecies can you remember that are being fulfilled in our time, in our lifetime? Being or will be. Either. Israel regathered. Israel regathered is one of them. Jesus told us that there would be wars. Worldwide wars. Earthquakes. World dominance. World dominance. We're looking for a one world, the beast, the one world government coming up. Absolutely. Excellent. Well, we've covered all of this. We're going to gather again next Monday at seven o'clock. We're going to be talking. We're going to be jumping right into creation, right in what the book of Genesis is all about. We want you to gather with us. We're so glad to have shared this time with all of you. I'm going to turn off Facebook Live right now. Talk to you later, Facebook.
